Requests Made Known - Sunday, April 29th, 2007

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Philippians 4:6

Do we believe that our prayers are effective and are working during this 40-day tent revival? Do we believe that when we communicate with the Lord through prayer He is listening? Well, I do. Every morning I see the faithful wake up and enter INSIDE THE TENT to call upon the Lord in prayer. If we didn’t believe, then why show up? I believe God is willing to respond to His people. When? I don’t’ know. We are currently on day 21. It might not be in our timing, but He will answer in ways that we can’t imagine. Maybe He will reveal Himself on day 33. Maybe it will be tonight. I don’t know when the Lord will pour out His Spirit in ways that we can’t fathom, but I do believe it is coming. If I didn’t believe this, then why put up a tent in near downtown Dallas, and invite the body of Christ to come together? We must pray with expectation. We must pray without anxiety. Paul encouraged the people of Philippi to have this mindset when he said, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Last night I caught a glimpse of the Lord working through the power of prayer and God hearing our requests. When the evening service was over, I had a couple come over to me. I had met the wife the prior evening, but for the first time the husband introduced himself to me. Right away, he said he worked for Dallas County. Immediately, I was a little nervous. Why? Because with the current situation with the Sandbranch community, I have referenced the “roles” played by Dallas County and the city of Dallas numerous times. So what would this employee of Dallas County have to say to me? Well, praise the Lord, for God continues to put the pieces together. You see, this individual is a project manager for the Public Works Department. And he works with beside someone who is familiar with the Sandbranch situation and all the history involved. Praise the Lord! You see, we have been praying for us to be able to connect with Dallas County. And here we have a volunteer for the tent-revival that works for the Dallas County. Is God good or what?

Now I have the phone number of someone who works in the Community Development Department. Unbelievable. The power of prayer works. I can’t get worried about how the Sandbranch situation will unfold. Rather, with thanksgiving I need to let my requests be made known to God. I need to continue to turn my thoughts and concerns over to Him. For when I do, He will answer…and I believe He answers in creative ways. Ways that I can’t imagine. Like having a volunteer in a baby blue Dallas Revival t-shirt come up to me and say that he works for Dallas County, and he would like to help us.

Let us give thanks for God answering prayer one step at a time. No, we don’t have the final solution to bringing restoration and healing to the land of Sandbranch, but we are getting closer. We are now able to talk with individuals that know this situation from the political side. And we need to have everyone’s perspective. Praise be to God for He does answer our requests.
