Handling the Word of Truth –Monday, March 26th, 2007

“Be diligent to present yourselves approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.”
- 2 Timothy 2:15

This morning brought back good memories. I had flashbacks of when I originally walked the land (Nov/Dec ’06) in order to pray over the piece of property. It was before the land had even been approved for the use of The Dallas Revival. But now, as I walked the land today, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. The Lord has done so much already in the planning and preparation for the upcoming 40-day tent revival. It is hard to fathom that God has chosen to intervene and involve Himself in my heart’s desire, as well as many others, so we may see revival come to this city. But He has!

I think back to when I originally met with Dr. Johnson (president of Criswell College) to get his official approval for the use of the land. And now here I am 2 ˝ months later, praying for the radio interview that will occur this afternoon (KCBI – 90.9) at 5:30 PM between Dr. Johnson and me. God has placed revival on my heart, and I am pursuing it for His people. I am daily giving my life for the sake of Christ. Morning, noon, and night I have had to work hard to get the 40-day tent revival up to this point. The tent doesn’t just magically appear. Our committee actually had to find a company and rent it. The website doesn’t just show-up on the internet. I had to actually write out what everyone sees on their computer. The names of the speakers haven’t just shown up on the schedule. I have had to call them and arrange the dates. But these aren’t the reasons for the radio interview. The reason for the interview is because there is a unique aroma of divine favor in this planning and preparation of the 40-day tent revival. God has revealed Himself in this WHOLE process. Therefore, the radio station believes the testimonies pointing to God should be for all to hear.

Day-in and day-out, I attempt to live out the words of advice written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy. I know that I am to be diligent before the Lord in a manner in which I do “not need to be ashamed.” It doesn’t come easy, but I know I have been given these responsibilities. Remember the parable about the servants who have been given “talents.” We each have responsibilities, and we must follow-through with them. Yet, as I pursue this daily pursuit of Him, my speech must also correlate with my lifestyle. The Scriptures say we are to be individuals “accurately handling the word of truth.” By no means do any of us have the right to flippantly talk about God without understanding the Word of God. Therefore, please pray for me as I want to share how God has placed His divine hand on this journey for revival. And I want to do it in a manner that is pleasing to Him. Pray that God is glorified. And most definitely, please pray that I continue to have the absolute perspective found in John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

As the interview unfolds, I only want to share what the Lord wants me to share. I don’t want to speak of things that won’t matter. Please pray that my passion is conveyed as I desire for the message of revival to be heard not only to the church but also to the lost. This 40-day tent revival is God’s. It is His 100%. And let’s pray (specifically today in the interview) that the name of Jesus Christ will be lifted on high, so all who hear will be drawn to Him (John 12:32).
