The Wall Fell Down - Friday, March 23, 2007
"So the people shouted, and priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight ahead, and they took the city." ~ Joshua 6:20
As I was walking over to the TENT location, where someone from our church had organized a Jericho Prayer Walk for the morning, I grew more and more excited. At the same time, I was nervous. Don’t ask why. I have done numerous prayer walks by myself out at the land. But I haven’t done a prayer walk with others in quite some time (not since college). What do I mean by a prayer walk? It means just what it sounds. We were to walk around the land, with our eyes open, praying quietly and/or aloud. It is quite a different experience. However, once the prayer walk begins, all the cares and worries of what others’ think are kicked to the curb. But as I walked up to the site, I thought otherwise. I saw a dose of reality. Where the TENT will be pitched, there are plenty of people to observe our every move. This includes driver-bys on Gaston Avenue, the wandering homeless, the drive-thru people at Starbucks, the college students and faculty, the seminary students and faculty, and whoever else is gazing upon 4005 Gaston. We were an open book for all to see.
But my oh my, what a beautiful time of worshipping the Lord through praise and prayer it was. We had seven different churches/ministries represented throughout the metroplex praying for the same desire – for the Lord to reign down upon His people once again. And it was POWERFUL! We were a diverse group ethnically. We represented a variety of denominations. Yet, we were ONE BODY. As we cried out loud to the Lord through song and prayer, I began to get a small glimpse of what is to come for the body of Christ here in Dallas. God does want to pour Holy Spirit upon His people, and He will do so in this city if we are willing to humble ourselves and seek after Him.
Therefore, let us assemble as one in order for any walls or barriers to fall. Let us cry out to the Lord. As it was recorded, The people shouted, and priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat." As it was revealed in the New Testament, we too are the priests. We are the royal priesthood, and because of our relationship with Christ, we can come before the Father, and cry to Him. He will listen. Let us sound the trumpets of praise. Or in the case yesterday at our prayer walk, let us blow upon the shofar" Yes, we had a shofar at the prayer walk. (Wordnet - A shofar is an ancient musical horn made from the horn of a ram; used in ancient times by the Israelites to sound a warning or a summons; used in synagogues today on solemn occasions blowing throughout our prayer time.") Wow! It was strong. It was powerful. It was a unique reminder in how the Israelites called upon the Lord in their times of distress. Later that day, I received an email from someone who lived two blocks away asking, Was there something going on this morning at the place where the revival will take place? I kept hearing something like a shofar." Immediately I felt an inner joy that is beyond description. And then I meet with another individual who was two blocks (in another direction), and he heard the shofar as well. Praise the Lord!
The trumpets are being sounded. Others are being warned. We are in a spiritual crisis, and we are asking the body of Christ to come together and pray for the Lord to POUR HIS SPIRIT upon this city. And out of faith, we believe the Lord will respond. The author of Hebrews confirmed this was the same mindset people had in the days of Jericho. He wrote, By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircle for seven days." Do you believe that we will see the obstacles, difficulties, and strongholds overcome by the blood of Jesus Christ? Do you believe the walls will fall down and the Message of Jesus Christ will be spread? As an encouragement, please remember the story found in Joshua 6. Because when the walls fell down, The people went up into the city, every man straight ahead, and they took the city." Amen.

" We cannot organize revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from Heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again."
