Feet of Good News–Monday, March 19th, 2007

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

While attending college in Indiana, I had the opportunity to work as an intern in the sports marketing industry (funny enough, the internship was in Dallas). My specific role was to develop marketing packets for professional athletes that we could present to companies who would possibly be interested in having them as a spokesman. Every time a marketing packet was created, I needed to identify the audience. Who was the company and why would they want this athlete to represent them? Therefore, because of this experience in marketing, my mind has been constantly thinking how I can effectively reach our audience for the 40-day tent revival. But before I can answer that question, I have to identify who our target audience is. So on the website (www.dallasrevival.org), I have labeled our audience as: 1) Any person who believes in Jesus Christ; and 2) Any person seeking significance for their own personal life. The bottom line is ~ revival is for everyone. We can’t strictly market only to the church, and we can’t exclusively advertise to the lost. All must hear the message of revival.

Over this past weekend, I have begun to work on the press releases and identify the specific venues of promotion, such as radio, television, and newspaper. I feel this will come together with time, and they will all be an effective means of reaching many throughout the city. Yet, with the posters and the promotional cards completed, I am convinced the biggest form of advertising will result because of the active FEET of individual members of the body of Christ. We, in our own spheres of influence, must spread the message of Jesus Christ throughout the city. Let's get out of our homes, put on our shoes and walk amidst our communities. Let’s tell others about The Dallas Revival. But we must physically get and go. We must talk the talk and walk the walk.

Yesterday, I spoke at our church and let them know we know have posters and promotional cards available for them to spread the word. And within a couple of hours, I received an email from an individual which said, “I took 2 posters today and some business cards. I had to stop at Kroger at Centennial and Audelia in Richardson on the way home from church to get eggs. So, I took a poster in and asked the manager if I could put it up. He said, ‘Yes’ and let me put it on the sliding door. Then, I went around the corner to Fantastic Sam’s where we get our hair cut and they let me put one up there too. I guess I’ll have to get more posters this (week).” How beautiful an image! The Cross of Christ is being seen at a grocery store and a hair cut salon.

My friends, let’s utilize the areas in which we live. WHENEVER & WHEREVER. If we aren’t willing to talk about the 40-day tent revival, then who will? If we aren’t willing to talk about Jesus, then who will? Please let’s not only pray for the message to be heard, but let’s also be pro-active within our community.
