Let it Rain - Friday, April 13th, 2007

“May he come down like rain upon the mown grass, like showers that water the earth.”
Psalm 72:6

Have you seen the forecast for today here in the Dallas area? According to the Weather Channel, the temperature will reach a high of 72 degrees. Good climate, yet we are also guaranteed 100% precipitation. In fact, as we were in corporate prayer this morning, we began to hear a slow drizzle hit the canvas of the tent this morning. It was a comforting sound. And immediately it made me think of what someone said to me last night after the service. He came up to me and said, “When was the last time it rained?” I said, “It rained a couple of days ago, but it was a little bit of rain. It was just a sprinkle” This man of God smiled when I said that. His response was, “Imagine if God sent all of that sprinkled rain at once into one DROP. Do you think we would be able to handle it?” And then he walked away. Hmmm. Good thought and insight in regards to how I should continue to view this 40-day tent revival.

What if God poured Himself down upon us all at once? Would we be able to handle it? Would we know what to do with His wonderful response? I believe at this very moment we might feel overwhelmed. But, when the Spirit continues to move on a steady and consistent pace, we begin to taste and see for ourselves how the Lord is working in small ways. It isn’t too overwhelming, yet we know and trust that God is in our midst. He is building momentum in our pursuit of revival. Just like the steady showers of rain. Not too much, but just enough. As the psalmist wrote in Psalm 72:6, “May he come down like rain upon the mown grass, like showers that water the earth.” Doesn’t this sound refreshing? Well, allow me to say it is. As God continues to “rain” in my own life, I am able to grow in my prayer life. I am able to grow in the Word of God. I am able to grow with fellow believers. I am drawing closer to Jesus.

But don’t get me wrong. Aside from the constant showers, I welcome the Lord to reveal Himself in mighty and powerful ways - in ways that we couldn’t have ever imagined or thought of. Why is this important? Because I believe these “might rain storms” allows us to give testimony to the Lord’s divine hand in our lives. God makes it evident that He is the one doing the miracles, signs, and wonders. He can do the extraordinary if we ask. And when we do, He will answer at the right time. He will respond when He believes we are ready.

“Strong thunderstorms” are in the forecast for the remainder of the day. Will it happen? Will we see these storms that are predicted? I don’t know what is to come. But either way, we have decided rain or shine to meet INSIDE THE TENT. The Lord is equipping us, so that when He does pour out upon His people, we will be READY! Therefore, ask yourself today ~ Do you want to see the Lord in a new and refreshing way? Do you want to see the spiritual waters fall from heaven onto earth? If so, will you join me a simple yet powerful prayer that someone once said weeks ago? The prayer was, “Lord, release the waters.”
