Rest for the Soul- Monday, March 12th, 2007

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
 ~ Matthew 11:28-30

As I went to Indiana over this past weekend, in my mind I expected to find some time of rest. I expected to get caught-up with life. But as usual, LIFE is busy. Life is full of functions and festivities. Some good, and some bad. Either way, the truth of the matter is, as my favorite store, Ace Hardware, likes to promote, "Life is an ongoing project." Having said this, when are we suppose to take time and get a break from our "burdens?" In my mind, I was planning onreleasing some internal pressure over the weekend. But the reality is, the details of life never stop. It doesn't matter where my location is,the pressurecontinues to build.

Therefore, I need to reanalyze where Iam looking to find rest for the soul.Thankfully I don't need to look far. Forthe answer is ~ Jesus Christ is the SOURCE of rest. He is the SOURCE of relief. Jesus said, "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." Jesus wants to take our burdens. Jesus wants to be help us in our time of need. He is willing to carry the weight of our problems. He said, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Doesn't this sound refreshing? Let's give everything over to the Lord. Our baggage. Our sins. Our thoughts. Our worries.Our fears. Let's pray that we give ourselves over to the Lord.Let's get on our knees and ask for His daily involvement. Why? Because Christ is waiting for us to come to Him, and experiencewhat Jesus said, "My yoke is easy andMy burden is light."
