God is in Control - Thursday, April 12th, 2007

“In Your lovingkindness You have led the people whom You have redeemed; in Your strength You have guided them to Your holy habitation.”
Exodus 15:13

This morning I confessed to the people of prayer that I struggle with the obvious. I struggle with “counting” how many people come to the tent. From the human perspective, I base the “success” of the 40-day tent revival on the attendance INSIDE THE TENT. But I am trying to look at each day without that viewpoint. I want to wake up and not have to worry about who is coming and how many people will be there. But this is hard to do, especially when I pour myself into something that I absolutely love doing. So please pray that I will find peace and content with whomever the Lord brings. And that is the key…it is whomever the Lord brings. He in the one in charge. He knows who needs to be there. He knows who will respond to the message. Therefore, God is the one doing the leading. He is the one doing the guiding. How do I know? Because as an individual encouraged me this morning, it says in Exodus 15:13, “In Your lovingkindness, You have led the people whom You have redeemed; in Your strength You have guided them to Your holy habitation.” Notice it doesn’t say in this passage that an individual did the leading. Nor does it say in this Scripture verse that a person did the guiding. NO…it was God who did the leading and guiding. What a relief! If I truly believe this, than attendance would and should not matter. God will bring the people who need to be at the TENT for that night.

And last night that is exactly what happened. Our attendance had slightly dropped…but yet, the Spirit was moving towards the end of the service in a mighty and powerful way. I was humbled by thinking that because only 225 people were there, and not 450, that the Lord wasn’t going to move. Boy was I wrong! And I confess to each one of you, I lacked the faith. I was more concerned about others and what they thought than what I should have been doing…and that was praying for the Lord to move mightily in our midst that evening.

Thankfully, this revival is not up to me. Because by the end of the service, the Lord was using the testimony, the worship team, and the strong message from the revival speaker to communicate the truth of Jesus Christ to those in attendance. Praise the Lord! People were responding to the message of Jesus Christ. Four individuals took bold steps and walked down the grassy trail INSIDE THE TENT and committed themselves to the Lord. I began to cry. What was I thinking? Others recommitted their lives to the Lord. God can be in a TENT with 5 people or with 500 people. Regardless of the amount of people, I must realize that because of God’s lovingkindness, He will lead His people when He wants to. And because of His strength, He will guide His people when He deems appropriate. God is in control, and I must realize this at all times…whether it is early in the morning at prayer times and late into the evening during the worship services. God is good, and He will continue to reveal Himself in this 40-day tent revival. *Thank-you Lord for overcoming my short-sidedness and remaining faithful to Your people.
